As you're no doubt aware, we here at PoopReading.com have been celebrating all the best that television had to offer during the 2008-2009 season. All four contributors produced their Ten Best lists (and heck, Mike's list of the shows he doesn't watch – "Lost," "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," "Dexter," "Weeds," "Life," "House," "Party Down," "Eastbound and Down," "Pushing Daisies," "Top Chef," "The Shield" and "How I Met Your Mother" – would have made a very serviceable Top 12 list in and of itself), and we've tallied up the results to give you, our dear reader(s?), the final, indisputable word on this year's best in TV.
Our lists, once again:
Joe
Brandon
Jameson
Mike
And now, based on a system whereby a show gets 10 points for appearing at the #1 spot on a list, nine points for #2, eight points for #3, and so on…
The Top Ten Shows of the 2008-2009 Television Season
"Big Love" (7 total points)
"The Late Show with David Letterman" (7 points)
"The Shield" (7 points)
"Lost" (9 points)
"The Colbert Report" (10 points)
"Party Down" (12 points)
"House" (13 points)
"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" (16 points)
"Mad Men" (17 points. It bears mentioning that on any other such list written by four TV connoisseurs of our status and renown, "Mad Men" would undoubtedly rank much higher. But, what are you gonna do?)
"Dexter" (18 points)
"The Office" (24 points)
"30 Rock" (39 points; a near-perfect score, and one not likely to be topped. Not unless everybody else puts "Glee" at #1 next year, like I'm going to)
